The Faculty of Engineering of Takoradi Technical University will from 2018/2019 Academic Year which commences in August 2018 move to the new satellite campus at Akatakyi.

The campus which is dedicated as a centre of excellence in Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) will be used to train highly skilled manpower capable of addressing the societal needs of society.

The Vice Chancellor of the Takoradi Technical University, Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun revealed the move by the Faculty of Engineering to the new campus during a handing over of the project to Management of the University at Akatakyi.

According to him, the university was committed to training the critical masses needed to take commanding height in order to play major role in the oil and gas industry. He was optimistic that the completion of the few projects would help to develop the place to make it comfortable for both staff and students.

Rev. Prof. Eshun also called on the contractor working on the projects to use the grace period of the project  to correct all defects identified before the final commissioning of the campus.

He also indicated that the University will consult government for additional funding to complete the project before the students move in August 2018.

The 5million dollars project includes Lecture theaters, workshops, ICT Centre, Library and Staff and Students accommodation.
